TPO's
Many of you will have a tree or trees on your property that have a
Tree Preservation Order (TPO) on them. This stops you from having work
carried out on the tree(s) until you have obtained permission from your
Local Council unless the tree or parts of it are dead, dying or
dangerous. You can check if you have any TPO's by contacting your Local Council.
Sometimes the deeds of your property show this information. You should
also be aware that your neighbour's tree(s) may be protected and if they
overhang your garden, you will need permission from the Council before
you allow work to commence on those trees.
You may also find that there are Planning Conditions or Restrictive
Covenants prohibiting work on trees in your garden. Do check your Title
Deeds before allowing work to commence on trees as the fines for
allowing unauthorised work can be costly.
We are able to assist you in completing the forms to apply for
permission for work to be carried out on trees with TPO's on them.
Conservation Areas
If you live within a Conservation Area you should contact your Local
Council before carrying out any work on your trees. The Council may
require up to 8 weeks to assess the work and make any suggestions
regarding it.
